LAWBOOKS ARE FUN

My main subject was colour. The concept of color I wanted to link to a resistance, to rules. I went looking for something that gives people in the Netherlands clarity and consistency. To link it to colour, I decided to translate the book of Law into a visual language. For many people, the book of law is difficult to understand, therefore I wanted to translate it into something understandable. While reading the book of law I came across words that I wanted to take back in my own translation.

While reading the book of law I came across words that I wanted to take back in my own translation.I used three colors; blue (neutral), yellow(positive) and red (negative). Blue: the word rules, titels, and articalnumbers. These are the basic things that you can see in the pages, so you can see the structure with the colour of blue, Yellow: facts, recognition and numbers,Red: freedom, condemned, death, replaced and punishment.
The reason I chose these words is because they are very abstract and in the book itself it is not easy to see if they are meant to be positive or negative. Throughout the book, I focused on these words, which all have their own colour and symbol. Symbols play a role along with the color. Each symbol has a reason for being that symbol in combination with the word, for example freedom is red (negative) its round circle with a hole in it. The hole stands for escape but you exctually escape in something negative, you can’t escape to freedom. Each page has its own translation and is unique.
